Trueline
The name comes from what bridle leather was made to do: hold a line. Bridle was built for reins and tack, gear that can’t stretch, crack, or quit halfway through the day. A belt asks less of it than a horse does, but I like knowing the leather was overbuilt for the job.
This bridle comes from ChahinLeather, a family tannery in Orizaba, a mountain city in Veracruz, Mexico. Angel Chahin Sr. started it in 1932, and three generations of the family have run it since. In the early ’90s they started making leather specifically for the horse and saddlery trade, and that’s still where their reputation lives.
They start with heavy North American steer hides and vegetable tan them slowly. Then the hides are hot-stuffed with oils, tallows, and waxes that soak all the way through, and drum dyed so the color goes deep instead of sitting on the surface. What comes out is dense, waxy, and stubbornly weather-resistant. Rain and sweat don’t bother it much, and the strap keeps its shape instead of stretching out over the years.
The tannery takes care of where it lives, too. It’s a certified member of the Leather Working Group, and it’s connected directly to a water treatment plant so the work of making leather doesn’t come at the expense of the town around it.
It’ll feel firm at first. Give it a few weeks and it shapes itself to you. After that it spends the next few decades picking up a sheen that’s yours alone. Russet deepens into a rich reddish brown, English Tan slowly darkens, and Black stays black while gaining a quiet polish.
The hardware is solid brass all the way through. Choose the brass finish and it will age into a warm, lived-in patina. Choose the nickel finish for a cooler silver look over the same solid brass core.

Choose your tip:
English Point: the classic pointed tip, traditional and dressy.
Tapered: a gradual narrowing toward the end, cleaner and more modern.
Sized to you, not a size chart.
We measure off the prong tip rather than the traditional fold-over method — a construction choice that keeps things consistent with the Chicago screw closure and leaves the door open if you ever want to change buckles. Full instructions are in our [Belt Sizing Guide]. Five or seven holes are punched and centered on your measurement, so you're never stuck at the very end of the strap.
